1ST – 8TH GRADE RELIGIOUS EDUCATION REGISTRATION

2014-2015 School Year

Dear Parent(s):

Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be happy to welcome your child(ren) to the Religious Education program.  Religious education classes are held on Sunday mornings from 10-11 AM beginning September 28, 2014 and concluding in April.   In addition to Sunday morning grade level classes, parents and their child(ren)  are to partake in Family Faith Sessions.  The response to our second year of incorporating Family Faith sessions into the curriculum continues to be tremendously positive.

Family Faith is simply an invitation to parents to accompany their child(ren) as they share a meal with other members of our community and engage in an all ages faith-learning experience. We will have two major sessions this year, one in Advent and one during Lent.   This format in learning is designed to promote the family structure as being the most important influence in a child’s faith life.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION SCHEDULE

Please open the link (below) to the 2014-2015 Religious Education Schedule to view our unique curriculum that combines grade level Sunday morning classes with Family faith sessions throughout the school year.

**PARENT  BIBLE STUDY during Religious Education**

 We are pleased to announce the addition of a nationally acclaimed adult bible study called “A Quick Journey through the Bible.”  It will occur at the same time your child is in Religious Education class on Sunday mornings from 10-11 AM.  This 8 session bible study will help you, perhaps for the first time in your life, understand the overview of the Bible story.  You will come to understand the major people, places, events and themes of the Bible, from Genesis through the resurrection of Christ and the establishment of the Catholic Church.  I strongly encourage parents to join this excellent study. Coffee/Tea to be provided. Indicate your interest on the Registration form.

You have an option of allowing your 5th to 8th grade child to leave the classroom, upon class dismissal time, without waiting for a parent to come to the classroom.  Please indicate, on the registration form, whether or not you give this permission. If “No” than your child will remain in the classroom with his/her catechist until a parent comes.

Religious Education Lesson Plans: The 2014-2015 Lesson Plans

The goal of Religious Education is to present knowledge of God to our Children in order that they have a deeper conversion of heart and ultimately desire to enter into a relationship with the Lord.  We enter into the life of Christ through the sacraments and especially through the Eucharist.  The greatest gift we can give to our children is bringing them to Mass where the body, blood, soul and divinity of Christ enters and brings divine life to their souls.
